Our story

The faces behind Bush and the Bee

We are Matthias and Lidewij. In 2024, we decided to change our lives. We wanted to see more of the world, discover new cultures, and find inspiration. We reduced our work hours and started traveling full-time. A leap of faith, but a wonderful adventure!

We have visited extraordinary places. Not only in Europe, but also in America, Africa, and Asia, ultimately ending up in New Zealand.

And there, on the other side of the world, we discovered mānuka honey. We were impressed by this special natural product with its unique properties. We also found the taste remarkable; a rich, spicy flavor, unlike anything we had ever tasted before. Sweet, but not too sweet. Delicious!

The start of something new

The beginning of a brand!

Slowly an idea emerged: what if we brought this special honey to the Netherlands?

We decided to embark on this adventure. We visited beekeepers who shared our high standards for quality and respect for nature and selected a magnificent honey. Pure, responsible, authentic, and of top quality.

Our Mānuka honey travels a long way. Such a journey inevitably entails CO2 emissions. That's why we make conscious choices. We offset emissions from production to delivery, opt for glass packaging, and invest in more habitat for bees and nature projects. In this way, we try to give something back to nature.

We exclusively choose authentic Mānuka honey from New Zealand, collaborate with experienced beekeepers, and have every batch independently tested for authenticity, purity, and MGO value.
